Who is Eligible?

In order to qualify for Upward Bound, students must meet the following minimum criterion:

• Come from a low-income family as determined by the U.S. Department of Education and/or
• Be a potential-first-generation college student (neither parent received a four-year college degree)
• Successfully complete the eighth grade (rising freshman and sophomores only)
• Be between the ages of 13 and 19
• Demonstrate academic potential, but need additional support services to strengthen preparation for college

Students must also meet following criterion:

• Be in good academic standing, by having at least a 2.5 GPA
• Complete the program application
• Agree to follow program policies
• Plan to attend a college or university
