Who is Eligible?
In order to qualify for Upward Bound, students must meet the following
minimum criterion:
- Come from a low-income family as determined by the U.S. Department
of Education and/or
- Be a potential-first-generation college student
(neither parent received a four-year college degree)
- Successfully
complete the eighth grade (rising freshman and sophomores only)
- Be
between the ages of 13 and 19
- Demonstrate academic potential, but
need additional support services to strengthen preparation for
college
Students must also meet following criterion:
- Be in good academic standing, by having at least a 2.5 GPA
- Complete
the program application
- Agree to follow program policies
- Plan to attend a college or university
